FY1 doctors

On pay
  • You will receive a 6.2% pay uplift backdated to 1st April.
  • If/ when you progress to FY2, the new FY2 scale will be 7.1% higher.
  • You will receive an additional pay award in April 2027 when the DDRB reports.

This means the actual pay rise you will see in your pocket if you compare your payslips last month to in 10 months’ time is: 6.9%.

On top of this, you will get another uplift in April.

  • Without this offer, that pay rise would be 3.5%.
  • Because our pay awards are in April each year, but you rotate in August, you will spend one third of the time between April 2026 and April 2027 as an FY1 and two thirds of it as an FY2. That means you will cross 2 nodal points in the 10 months of this pay offer. This is why the percentage in bold is important and is specific to your grade if you progress this August.
On jobs
  • An additional 750 specialty training jobs will be added to the recruitment round this year (for August 2027 starts) if you wish to apply for training.

  • There will be a further 1500 (up to 1,750) the year after.
  • If recruitment processes remain the same, the competition ratios for you and the addition of these jobs means the overall competition for specialty training is likely to return to a pre-2020 state.
  • You would be prioritised for the next stage of your training following the recent Medical Training (Prioritisation) Act.
Other items

Your exams, portfolio and membership fees would be paid in the future. For example, if you wanted to be a haematologist, currently you would need to pay:

  • £510 for each sitting of MRCP Part 1
  • £512 for each sitting of MRCP Part 2
  • £742 for each sitting of PACES
  • £749 for Haematology Part 1
  • £ 576 for Haematology Part 2

In addition, you would pay:

  • £440 for college membership fees

In addition you would pay:

  • £534 for your core training portfolio
  • £712 for your higher training portfolio

As part of this offer in this example, instead of costing up to £4,775 for you to train, it would cost you £0.

Some of these costs are tax deductible. Membership and portfolio fees may be bundled together.

FY2 doctors

On pay
  • You will receive a 7.1% pay uplift backdated to 1st April.
  • If/ when you progress to ST1 (or if you are taking a year out), the new ST1 scale will be 5.1% higher.
  • You will receive an additional pay award in April 2027 when the DDRB reports.

This means the actual pay rise you will see in your pocket if you compare your payslips last month to in 10 months’ time is: 5.7%.

On top of this, you will get another uplift in April.

  • Without this offer, that pay rise would be 3.5%.

On jobs
