About this live online event
We’re excited to invite all sessional GPs, whether BMA members or not, to a free national virtual event!
'Power in numbers: Uniting Sessional GPs for change' is your opportunity to connect, be heard, and get involved in shaping the future for sessional GPs across the country. Whether you’re a locum or salaried GP, this event is tailored to the issues that matter most to you.
We know things are tough at the moment. We know many of you are struggling with under and unemployment. We know that you are struggling with poor terms and conditions, and we know that you are struggling with a good work life balance.
We understand that times are tough. Many of you are facing under or unemployment, poor working conditions, and challenges in maintaining a good work life balance.
A new campaign
We want to start a campaign: Three Work Rules for a Better Sessional GP Life.
- Work must be safe.
Every GP deserves a manageable day – this means backing sessional colleagues in following BMA safe working guidelines. - Work must be available.
We are aware of the unemployment issues. We need to support the idea of 1 in 1000 GP: patient ratios and realise it. - Work must be fairly paid.
Salaried GPs are slipping behind other doctors. Earnings data is showing us this. We know that the DDRB uplift isn't passed on to all who should get it. This must change.
Agenda
- Meet the newly elected national executives and regional representatives.
- Share and discuss key concerns including unemployment and pay.
- Get the latest updates on the DDRB and the 10-Year Plan.
- Learn about resources, support networks, and opportunities for private practice.
- Find out how to stay engaged and influence the direction of our work moving forward.
This is more than just an event, it's a platform for your voice. Follow-up communications will ensure your feedback is heard, and we’ll provide guidance on getting more involved, including how to join the BMA if you're not yet a member.
