Dr Amit Kochhar was elected chair of the BMA's representative body at ARM 2025. Dr Kochhar is an Associate Specialist in Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) surgery and former chair of the BMA's special staff, associate specialist and specialty doctor committee (SASC). He said:

“I am honoured to have been appointed as Chair of the BMA Representative Body and my aspiration is simple but ambitious: to ensure that the BMA remains a powerful, inclusive, and compassionate voice for every doctor and medical student in the UK. Our profession faces immense pressures — from workforce burnout and pay erosion to systemic inequities and challenges to our autonomy. These are not issues we can solve in isolation. They require unity, courage, and a shared vision for change. I will strive to make sure all voices — especially those which historically, have been less heard, are heard and respected. I want to support a BMA that listens, reflects, and leads with integrity.”
