In order to make sure the BMA caters to its wide membership, it's important that we know what you think of our products, services and initiatives, so we can understand what you really need from us. The contribution of the advisory panel is central to making this happen.
What is the advisory panel?
Our advisory panel is made up of 80 doctors from all career stages and branches of practice. We organise four meetings a year, each lasting two hours.
The panel is used to find out about doctors’ opinions, hopes and the challenges of working in health and care. While the panel does not have influence in shaping our healthcare policy, members will:
- act as sounding boards for new activity at the BMA
- give their opinions on marketing collateral
- be our eyes and ears on the ground, to feedback on external developments that could impact the BMA.
Why join us?
Joining the BMA advisory panel is a great way to get involved and share your views on our activity.
- You can help us better understand doctors' needs and concerns.
- You can help create innovative products and services for doctors.
- It’s a great achievement for your CV.
- It’s a chance to network with other doctors in a friendly and informal atmosphere and learn from others in a variety of roles.
Who can join?
The panel reflects the core branches of practice, from medical students through to consultants.
It includes doctors who have never been - or who are no longer - BMA members, as well as those who have a current membership with us.
What does it involve?
The panel meets across the country for two hours at a time. For those available to do so, we might also contact you on an ad hoc basis between meetings by telephone or email to ask your opinion on an idea, or for your feedback on a marketing campaign – but always at a time convenient for you.
After our meetings, we will let you know of any developments relating to the ideas that you discussed, so you can see how your input has helped.
We will also be in touch to let you know about the next meeting.
How do I join?
Please email [email protected] to get involved.
If you think there’s something we can help you with, or you’d just like to know more about the panel, do not hesitate to get in touch.
What does it cost?
There is no cost to you. All your travel and reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Please keep all receipts or proof of expenditure for travel and give it to the facilitator on the day of the meeting.
Remember, if you have any other questions about becoming a panel member, email [email protected].
