BMA Cymru Wales statement on Junior Doctor contract vote result in England

Speaking after the announcement today by the BMA that junior doctors in England have voted to reject the Westminster Government’s proposed new contract, the Chair of the BMA’s Welsh Junior Doctor Committee (WJDC), Dr Bethan Roberts said:

“We note the results of this vote.

“As we have said previously, the Welsh Government’s commitment not to impose a contract on junior doctors in Wales is reflective of the partnership approach between BMA Cymru Wales and Welsh Government, and bodes well for the way we tackle issues together in the future.

“WJDC will continue to press for improvements to training and career opportunities, and we hope that by working together we will find solutions which will encourage more doctors to live and work in Wales.”
