BMA has launched two initiatives for artists in the UK to commemorate the memory of healthcare workers who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Memorial sculpture

We are accepting proposals for a commissioned sculpture that will sit in the memorial courtyard of BMA House, a Grade II listed building in London.

The sculpture should be ready for unveiling at the start of September 2021.

  • This commission is open to all artists who have experience working with outside sculpture from concept to installation.
  • As the sculpture will be a permanent feature in the outdoor courtyard, the proposal should take into account the surroundings and exposure to the elements, with the required heritage planning approval(s).
  • The sculpture should also be free-standing.
  • We envisage the sculpture will be visible from the street if located along the clockface side of the building, but not accessible to the public.
  • Beyond this, there are no specific requirements as to the materials and medium an artist chooses to use.
  • It's worth noting that BMA House memorial courtyard is home to two existing memorials.
