About this event

We are living in unprecedented times, and those who have leadership roles in the healthcare system are under unrelenting pressure. We are encouraged to show compassionate leadership at a time when 'strong' or 'decisive' leadership may feel easier. However, medical managers need to balance the competing pressures of political or central NHS demands, local needs, concerns from colleagues, uncertainty regarding vaccine availability and/or efficacy, combined with societal and family context, and personal concerns.

Looking to the recovery phase as the pandemic comes under control, our teams will need to rest and heal, whilst considering how to tackle the workload that is building up, combined with the impact of potential late diagnosis of serious diseases. The concept of 'moral injury' may also add to the risk of doctors leaving the profession in the aftermath of the pandemic.

Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions to ask the speakers both before and during the event, and the BMA will be applying for CPD accreditation for this online event.
