What is the junior doctors conference?

The junior doctors conference takes place once a year and acts as the primary BMA policy setting body for junior doctors in the UK.

Who can attend?

The conference is open to all junior doctors both BMA members and non-members. Places are allocated regionally on a first come, first served basis. Registration opens at 12 noon on Thursday 22 February 2024.

Conference format

It is possible to attend the conference either in person at BMA House, London or online. You will be able to specify how you would like to attend on the registration form.

First time attendees event – Friday 26 April 2024

If you have never attended a BMA conference before, there is an optional training session the day before that will prepare you for the event. This is an opportunity to discuss key issues, learn about conference procedures and develop motions to be debated during Saturday's conference. All seminar attendees are also invited to an informal dinner in the evening. If you would like to attend, please let us know via the online registration form. Places are limited and allocated to first time attendees on a first come, first served basis.

Conference - Saturday 27 April 2024

Registration starts from 9am. The conference will open at 9.30am with a short teach-in and is due to close at 5.30pm.

Prior to conference, we urge delegates to read through the conference programme. It includes practical information and updates, as well as the agenda and the motions that will be up for debate. By reading this in advance of the event, delegates can pick which motions they would like to speak to, and have a better sense of the subjects that will be debated on the day.

Expenses and getting time off work

Download information about expenses and getting time off work to attend the conference. Upon registration, you will receive a standard letter from the BMA outlining your trade union leave entitlement to attend the conference.

Agenda and motions for debate
