The JMF (junior members forum) is a free-of-charge weekend residential conference for BMA members, taking place on Saturday 1 to Sunday 2 February 2020 at BMA House, London.
The JMF is a two-day conference providing a unique opportunity for junior members to get involved with the BMA.
The theme for the 2020 JMF is 'forging your own path'. We hope to create an agenda that will inspire colleagues with the diversity of options available in our future careers and what that means for us, the medical profession and the BMA.
The content of the agenda is shaped by the issues important to those attending and the output can go on to become BMA policy and guide the future work of the association. The conference will:
- provide a platform among like-minded colleagues for you to discuss the issues that affect you and work together to find improvements.
- help you find out more about what the BMA does and how it works to support you in your career.
- help you to develop your debating skills and how to write motions on key issues for all doctors.
- offer the chance for you to contribute to BMA policy and start making a difference to the future of your profession.
- include a variety of interesting speakers.

Saturday 1 February 2020
The conference opens on Saturday morning with an introduction to the weekend and a chance to hear from high profile guest speakers - who will be confirmed in due course.
Following this, attendees will have the opportunity to raise issues of importance by engaging in small group discussions with colleagues from across the profession and developing motions for further debate.
Sunday 2 February 2020
Day two will give you the opportunity to debate topics arising from the previous day’s discussions and other important medico-political issues.
An introduction to the debating session will take place to ensure that all attendees are familiar with the format for debate. There will also be the opportunity to speak with BMA leaders, network with colleagues, and find out about other opportunities to get involved with the BMA and make a difference to your profession.
Our hope is that the JMF will encourage you to stay involved with the BMA long after the weekend has ended. The more members who are involved, the better the BMA can represent your interests.
The conference is open to BMA members from all parts of the profession. Whether you are a medical student, GP, consultant or junior doctor, as long as you are within 12 years of provisional registration, or 11 years of full registration, then the conference is open to you.
