Promoting positive workplace culture

Your opportunity to influence our work to build a positive workplace culture locally.

The BMA has, for many years, been engaged in a number of cases of workplace bullying and harassment and it is clear that the culture in the workplace contributes greatly to some of the problems we come across. 

Recently, there have been a number of high profile issues surrounding this in NHS Highland and across Scotland. The Sturrock review into the allegations raised in NHS Highland is due to report soon and this will clearly be a driver for cultural change.

Cultural change takes time. To help support doctors, and hear your experiences and suggestions for the future, the BMA is running this lunchtime event to allow doctors from all branches of practice to share experiences, to support those affected and to provide an opportunity to discuss how best the workplace culture at Raigmore Hospital could be improved. 

Opening with a general discussion session will give those present the opportunity to share any issues they have experienced or been aware of, and will allow us to discuss a collective approach to how we can begin to change the culture for the better. 

The session will end with some information from our expert advisers on our new half-day course, helping individuals to safely challenge unacceptable behaviours and to deal with the difficult conversations those behaviours generate.
