Your Privacy

When you visit any web site, it may store or retrieve information on your browser, mostly in the form of cookies. This information might be about you, your preferences or your device and is mostly used to make the site work as you expect it to. The information does not usually directly identify you, but it can give you a more personalised web experience.

Because we respect your right to privacy, you can choose not to allow some types of cookies. Click on the different category headings to find out more and change our default settings. However, blocking some types of cookies may impact your experience of the site and the services we are able to offer.

Preferences Cookies

These cookies allow a website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you're in) and tailor the website to provide enhanced features and content for you.

For example, they can be used to remember certain log-in details, changes you've made to text size, font and other parts of pages that you can customise. They may also be used to provide services you've asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. These cookies may be used to ensure that all our services and communications are relevant to you. The information these cookies collect cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

Without these cookies, a website cannot remember choices you've previously made or personalise your browsing experience meaning you would have to reset these for every visit. In addition, some functionality may not be available if this category is switched off.

PCN masterclass: leadership through change for aspiring clinical directors

Date: 18 June 2019

Location: BMA House, London

Time: 9:00AM - 5:00PM

The BMA and GPDF are jointly hosting 2 half day masterclasses for PCN (primary care network) clinical directors.

Primary Care Networks (PCN) offer different ways of working and a new model of patient care. As GP practices work more closely together within the new PCN model, they will need leadership that understands the political landscape, the needs of the locality, is collaborative and that unites. As newly appointed PCN clinical directors leading practices through this transition, there will be opportunities and challenges presented to you that will be both common to other clinical directors, and unique to you and your locality - we’re here to support you on your leadership journey.

The BMA leadership through change masterclass will be practical and discursive with the central focus being on how to lead in this time of transition.

These masterclasses are aimed at those aspiring to the role of a PCN clinical director and have been designed to support you as you transition into your new role.

Key features

  • A choice of attending a morning or afternoon masterclass with a networking lunch
  • Develop relevant leadership skills
  • Learn from peers about the opportunities and challenges they are facing
  • Choose 2 of 3 interactive workshops to attend based on your learning needs
  • Build relationships with fellow aspiring clinical directors that support on-going development of the PCNs

The GPDF

The GPDF exists to ensure representation, influence and support for Local Medical Committees, GPs and general practice. They achieve this by listening to and working with Local Medical Committees as the representative of GPs, and has the following aims:

  • To strengthen the ‘voice’ of Local Medical Committees and GPs at a nationally representative level
  • To fund interventions in legal and other related matters that benefit Local Medical Committees and wider general practice
  • To fund initiatives that support effective functioning of all Local Medical Committees and general practice
  • And engage in dialogue with LMCs, the General Practitioners Committee (BMA), and others to share knowledge and learning, and to promote unity across the profession

GPDF Primary logoThe GPDF funding structure is on a mutual basis across all GPs throughout Great Britain, based on a principle of shared investment for the common good.
