Supporting you in the workplace
Welcome to the second edition of your new-look enewsletter, which continues to focus on issues relevant to sessional GPs.
It was very pleasing to see so many of you, both old and new faces, at last month’s Sessional GP Conference.
This year, we had a shift in emphasis from what we usually do – nuts and bolts-type topics – to supporting you as individuals in the workplace, running successful sessions on issues from difficult behaviours to resilience and wellness.
I enjoyed the conference, and one of the things I took away was not just what a diverse and talented group sessional GPs are, but your commitment to the NHS and what an essential service you provide.
Revalidation: tell us your experiences
On another note, last time we asked you to give us feedback on your experiences of appraisal and revalidation. Thanks to those of you who have already taken time to fill in the survey. The initial results are now in, but there’s still time to let us know your views.
So far, 77 per cent of you agreed that your appraiser understood your role as a sessional GP, while 75 per cent agreed that your appraiser had reasonable expectations of the type of evidence you were able to present as a sessional GP.
However, when asked ‘Do you feel that you receive appropriate support to undergo appraisal which is fit for revalidation?’ 42 per cent of you said no, and just 37 per cent agreed that patient and colleague feedback surveys produce data that’s relevant to you.
