The Northern Ireland Assembly collapsed in January 2017.

Following an election in March 2017, a consensus on how to move forward was not been reached, therefore the Assembly has been suspended and is not actively sitting. However, direct rule has not been introduced so BMA continues to work closely with MPs and MLAs across the main political parties, and civil servants within the Department of Health and the Health and Social Care to promoting our key priorities.
