Support for RCN pay consultation

GP nurse in reception

On 17 May 2017, BMA Council discussed the results of the consultation from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) on the ongoing pay restraint within the NHS and its proposed summer of activity.

BMA Council were clear that year on year real-term cuts to pay are having a damaging impact on the morale of front-line staff, and are firmly behind the RCN's message that the pay cap is unfair, unacceptable and must be lifted by the incoming Government.

Following the meeting BMA council chair, Mark Porter, wrote to Janet Davies, chief executive and general secretary of the RCN, to convey the support of BMA Council.
