Medical Academics Committee Scotland

Last updated:

Scottish Medical Academic Staff Committee (SMASC)

Scotland MASC is concerned with matters affecting those medically qualified personnel holding substantive contracts of employment in a medical school, a research council or other institution engaged in medical research in Scotland.

However, all negotiations on matters affecting the terms and conditions of service of doctors represented by another branch of practice (ie Scottish consulants committee, Scottish general practitioners committee, Scottish junior doctors committee or the Scottish staff, associate specialist and speciality doctors committee), relating to either their NHS or university employment, are conducted through that branch of practice, with SMASC providing advice and support as appropriate.

Vacancies on SMASC 2018-19

We are looking for new members of the committee for 2018-19. There are eleven seats available in total for medical academics working in Scotland (including those with honorary academic contracts). Nominations open on 3 July 2018 and close on 31 August. An election will be held if required.
