Junior Doctors Committee membership

Dr Jeeves Wijesuriya, JDC chair

Jeeves (Rajiv) Wijesuriya (Sept 2016)

Jeeves graduated from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2013 with MBBS and BSc in Medical Education. He is currently an academic GP trainee in east London and is completing a Masters degree in Medical Education.

 

Dr Sarah Hallett, deputy chair for education and training

Sarah graduated from the University of Nottingham with BMBS and BMedSci (Hons) in 2013, and is currently a paediatric trainee ST2 in south London.

 

Dr Hannah Barham-Brown, deputy chair for professional issues

Hannah graduated from the graduate entry Medical Degree at St George’s, University of London, in 2016, with two previous degrees in English, Theology and Arabic, and Paediatric Nursing. Hannah is a foundation doctor in south London.

 

Dr Pete Campbell, deputy chair for terms and conditions of service and negotiations

Peter Campbell

Pete graduated from the University of Newcastle University in 2014 with an MBBS from the graduate entry programme and previous completed his Biomedical Science BSc at King's College London. He is currently an acute medicine trainee CT1 in Stockton.

 

The committee is made up of:

  • the chairs of the Scottish JDC, Welsh JDC, Northern Ireland JDC and the 13 English RJDCs
  • members of BMA council who, at the time of the first JDC meeting of the session, are junior doctors
  • the four chief officers of the BMA
  • the junior doctors’ conference chair
  • the chair of the Junior members’ forum (where they are a junior doctor)
  • the immediate past chair of the JDC, should they not be elected via any other route
  • 39 elected from geographical regions
  • 8 elected representatives elected from the annual representative meeting (ARM)
  • 12 elected or appointed from other committees, or subcommittees

 

Executive subcommittee

The JDC executive subcommittee is made up of:

  • the chair of the JDC
  • the three deputy chairs of the JDC
  • four JDC members elected to the education and training subcommittee
  • four JDC members elected to the terms and conditions of service and negotiating subcommittee.

With the addition of the following non-voting seats:

  • the chairs of the Scottish JDC, Welsh JDC, Northern Ireland JDC and the chair of one of the English regional JDCs
  • the junior doctors' conference chair
  • the Chair(s) of the Medical Students Committee;
  • the Chair(s) of the trainees subcommittee of the General Practitioners' Committee;
  • the Chair(s) of the trainees subcommittee of the Public Health Medicine Committee;
  • one representative of the Consultants Committee;
  • one representative of the Staff and Associate Specialists Committee
  • one doctor in flexible training elected by the junior doctors conference.
