The traditional model of general practice is under pressure, as momentum builds to provide integrated care services at scale.
Against the backdrop of rising demand and diminishing resources, many practices are left in a vulnerable position, creating an impetus to take forward new ways of working which can be used to help alleviate these pressures.
Whilst this environment brings with it a number of threats to salaried GPs working under these models, it equally creates opportunities.
With this guidance, the sessional GPs subcommittee attempts to create a rough guide around these models and flag a number of issues that salaried GPs need to be aware of in order to ensure that the employment offer and their working arrangements are fit for purpose.
