The Welsh consultants committee (WCC) is a standing committee of the BMA and represents all consultants working in Wales. Its remit is to consider all matters affecting those who are engaged in medical consultant practice in Wales. Find out all about us here.
WCC also makes representation to the Welsh Government and keeps the CC informed as to the hospital service in Wales and liaises, collaborates and co-ordinates with them on UK matters.
WCC’s clear position that the current Welsh consultant contract remains fit for purpose. Welsh Government ministers are maintaining their position that they would ‘consider’ the implications for Wales should a new contract be implemented in England.

Welsh consultants survey
In early 2018, we conducted a survey of Welsh consultants covering various aspects of their working lives. This included topics such as job planning; excess hours; medical engagement; plans for early retirement; vacancies; and entitlement to sabbaticals. The key findings can be downloaded below.
