Through the publication of policy reports, web resources, guidance documents and briefings, we play an influential role in forming government and public opinion on public health issues for the benefit of doctors and patients.

We also award research grants to support doctors in many fields of medical research.

Our priorities

We maintain an influential role in forming opinion on issues of interest to the health of the public. This includes major work areas such as alcohol and tobacco control, diet and physical exercise, transport and road safety, and illicit drug use.

The committee meets three times a year to discuss latest issues.

The Board operates a visitor’s scheme open to all BMA members. This is a great opportunity to experience the workings of the Board and discover more about the BMA’s role in improving and protecting the health of the public.
