Borrowing, renewals and reservations
You can request, renew or place a reservation through the library catalogue using your BMA login details. Alternatively, you can email [email protected] or call 020 7383 6625, ensuring you have your BMA membership number to hand.
You can return items by post or return them to BMA House.
Returning items by post
Each book has got a return address label on it. We recommend getting a 'proof of postage' certificate when sending books back to us, which you can get free at any post office.
If an item is lost in the mail you will be liable to pay for the replacement cost if you do not have a proof of postage certificate.
Qualified members of the BMA who have completed their foundation years training get a standard return address label and need to pay the return postage costs.
For student members, foundation doctors (FY1 and FY2), and those registered with the BMA's Refugee Doctor Initiative, we provide a reply-paid label to return the items back to us free of charge.
Returning items to BMA House
Use the book return box just inside the security lodge entrance at BMA House. The security lodge is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so books can be returned at any time.
All books placed in the book return box are collected by library staff the next morning and are immediately discharged from your borrower record.
Requesting items from other libraries
Unfortunately, the Inter-Library Loans Service is temporarily suspended while we upgrade our system to ensure improvements to member experience.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We hope to have the upgrade complete by Monday 19 April 2021.
