Looking after your mental health and taking your breaks is essential while working under winter pressures or when you're facing exams. It's important to give yourself the gift of five minutes and try to spend a small amount of time each day focusing on yourself.
We know that's not always easy. So to help, we're giving all BMA members two months' free access to the mindfulness app Headspace. You could also win a hamper for your practice, team and study group.

What is Headspace?
Headspace is a mindfulness and meditation app. Mindfulness can be an effective support for those experiencing routine stress, and has also been shown to help with more serious concerns like anxiety, depression and insomnia.
Listening to their bite-sized guided meditation sessions can help you cope with working under winter pressures and exam stress. Give yourself the gift of five minutes and try one out today.
Tell us how you take five minutes
You could win a hamper for your GP practice, hospital team or study group if you share a photo of how you look after your well-being.
Help encourage others and spread the word by tweeting your photo to @theBMA #thegiftof5, and we'll add you to the prize draw.
Other sources of help
Taking care of yourself is important, but it can't solve everything. If you need more support this winter, here's where to find it.
- If you're a junior doctor, you're entitled to take two 30 minute breaks for a shift rosted to last more than nine hours. If you're unable to take them, you should exception report it.
