BMA local engagement in Scotland

We want to put members at the heart of all that we do. That's why we're increasing our support for you and helping to build better connections between doctors locally. We're listening to your feedback and acting on it.

Members said that they wanted the BMA to be more accessible and more visible at a local level and so we have been running a trial of a new approach since November 2014 in a number of Board areas in Scotland.

The trial covers NHS Ayrshire and Arran, NHS Dumfries & Galloway, NHS Fife, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Tayside and the National Waiting Times Centre at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.

We're increasing the number of staff who work in these areas. Two new local organisers will work with members and BMA activists in the west of Scotland to plan, organise and deliver a programme of local events.

They'll provide you with information about BMA services and products and to help you get involved, get active and get connected on the issues that matter to you locally.

Find out about the events taking place in your area, and join in the discussions with local doctors in your community on Connecting doctors

Can you help us raise the profile at your place of work

Do you work in Scotland? Would you like to get involved in the BMA?

We are looking for enthusiastic members to assist our local engagement teams and act as a local 'face' of the BMA. You can use your local knowledge to make it easier for our professional staff to assist members through holding educational sessions, addressing local hot topics, providing discussion fora or even formally raising issues that are important to them.

Local events

We provide an ongoing programme of events across Scotland, with a focus on running more services at a local level and in response to local needs. These range from informal gatherings in hospital mess rooms or at GP surgeries to larger organised teaching sessions and meetings both in hospitals and elsewhere locally.
