Doctors' assistance to sports clubs and sporting events
2001
This report provides advice to doctors and other health professionals who may provide assistance to local sports clubs or sports events, for example, local football and rugby clubs, horse trials, marathons and charity sports events. The BMA recognises that this service is often given freely, in the professional's own time and at their expense, and that this gesture contributes to the smooth running of many sports. Whilst encouraging doctors to participate in providing medical assistance at sports events, the BMA through this report also draws attention to issues that should be considered before undertaking such a role.
