Regulatory bodies
The regulatory bodies in the health sector pay fees for doctors taking part in their health procedures. For further information contact the relevant organisations.

1. General Dental Council

Effective date: 1 January 2004
Source: Rules and Regulations of the GDC

a) Medical examiner report : £350.00
b) Medical supervisor report : £195.00
c) Medical examiner and medical supervisor witness allowance, per day : £420.00

Note: For the above fees there is also full payment of expenses for any tests carried out or expenses incurred to appear as witnesses if called by the council.
 
2. Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Effective date: 1 August 2005

Allowances: Mileage: Contact NMC for all reasonable receipted expenses

a) Medical examination and report : £500.00

- Cancelled examination where the doctor has spent time reading papers (less than 48 hours’ notice) : £250.00

Note: If the doctor is in attendance when an examination is cancelled, a further fee of £250.00 may be agreed, for example where the examiner is in private practice and has suffered a financial loss.

b) Attendance at Health Committee
- Up to 3 cases and less than 3 hours : £250.00
- More than 3 cases or more than 3 hours : £500.00

c) Miscellaneous
- Travelling time to place of medical examination, per hour (not payable for first hour of travel) : £63.00
- Extra reading time, if expressly agreed : £250.00
