Clinical guidelines for patients with an influenza like illness during an influenza pandemic . This document was agreed by the British Thoracic Society, the British Infection Society and the Health Protection Agency. It is published as official UK guidance by the Department of Health in England and covers treatment in hospitals and the community, of both adults and children.
The Health Protection Agency is working with others to protect the UK public from the threat of avian influenza and raise awareness about the disease. This link contains a range of guidance including that related to case definition/clinical features, and algorithms for the management of UK residents presenting with febrile respiratory illness after returning from areas known to have avian influenza or who have had contact with sick, dying or dead birds in the UK or other areas not known to have avian influenza.
