Outgoing President Prof Parveen Kumar installs HRH as the new President of the BMA |
In spite of the huge medical changes since the BMA was formed in 1832, there remained many challenges ahead, said the Princess Royal at her installation as president of the BMA.
Taking over the presidency from Parveen Kumar, the Princess paid tribute to the outgoing president. ‘I cannot hope to walk in her footsteps,’ she said.
Praising the BMA for its worldwide networking and work with developing countries, she challenged doctors to volunteer to help with the 2012 Olympic Games.
‘I hope we can make the Olympics work better for the whole population. I hope we are left with a better understanding of how exercise and activity can help the young and help us tackle the problem of obesity among young people. The BMA has a vital role to play in this,’ she said.
