The estimated risk of transmission through needlestick injury from an anti-HCV positive source is estimated to be 1.8 per cent (range 0 to 7 per cent), with the risk of transmission being higher, 2.7 per cent (range 3 to 10 per cent), in HCV RNA positive patients.
