The NHS Pensions Scheme may pay ill-health retirement benefits where a health care worker is permanently incapable of performing their duties due to occupationally acquired hepatitis C infection. For successful claimants, the scheme provides an income of up to 85 per cent of ‘pre-injury’ NHS earnings.
