A-Z of childcare support - a guide for medical professionals with dependents

The family strategy group at the BMA was convened in response to a motion at the 2005 Annual Representatives Meeting on childcare for doctors. This is an informal on-line working group with the aim of assisting doctors with their family commitments in order to allow them to maximise their potential as doctors.
At its first meeting the group identified a number of areas where action seemed necessary to support medical professionals with dependants working within the NHS. This resource has been developed as part of the groups overall aim to:
- support members
- campaign on childcare issues
- promote the needs of the medical profession
- lobby the government and NHS employers for improvements
