BMA response to the interim report of the Tooke Inquiry into Modernising Medical Careers - 'Aspiring to excellence'

21 November 2007

This document is the BMA's response to the Tooke inquiry interim report. It looks at the recommendations made in the report, both individually and collectively.

In particular, it addresses the recommendations about the future structure of training as suggested by the inquiry, the BMA's opposition to a training grade after CCT - the "subconsultant grade", academic training, the staff and associate specialist grade and training for general practice. It includes a supplementary response from BMA Scotland.
