Emma Rowe
Emma Rowe is a freelance Disability Manager, providing advice, information and workshops on disability and welfare legal systems. She is also the founder and chairperson of CONNECT D.R.A. an independent charity offering advocacy and support for disabled people (established in 1994). Emma has been involved with many other organisations, such as SCOPE for the Disablement Income Group, C.A.I.T. as an advocacy evaluator and acted as a Welfare and Disability Law Consultant to a firm of solicitors.
Emma has lived in West Wales with her husband for the last 24 years, and they have two sons. She draws upon much of her own experience in her work; involvement with alternative communities has sharpened her awareness and understanding of the marginalisation and prejudice that can be experienced in society. Living with Multiple Sclerosis, (with which both Emma and her husband have been diagnosed) has given Emma insight into, and experience of, disability rights issues.
