The workshop gives you the chance to leave your busy, task driven job for a day and uses a reflective approach, to help you slow down and consider your career.
This workshop will enable you as a doctor to be clear about: who you are and what you are best at. With this knowledge, you can plan your life within your chosen specialty, getting the most out of your career and attain true job satisfaction.
The workshop covers the four stages of career planning:
Stage 1: Who am I?
Using specific career exercises, you will be able to understand who you are. You will understand:
- What your work values are; and
- When you are at your best.
Stage 2: What do I want?
Using further career exercises, you will be able to:
- Turn a problem or dissatisfaction into a positive intention or goal; and
- Identify life goals and so decide what you want to achieve in the different parts of your life.
Stage 3: What is stopping me? What can help me?
Using career exercises, delegates will be able to identify:
- What you can and cannot change; and
- Be clearer about any attitudes blocking you from making a decision or taking action.
Stage 4: What are my next steps?
Using career exercises, delegates will be able to:
- Set some realistic and achievable career and personal development objectives; and
- Break these objectives down into practical steps.
