The PubMed users guide to the BMA Library edocs service
3 February 2006
You can now order articles via PubMed from our popular edocs service. Journal articles are scanned in from our print collection and converted into digital format (Adobe PDF), which are then emailed to you.
Go here for further details of our edocs service.
Articles will be sent to you by email within 3 working days. The cost is £5.50 per article for non-members. (For your information, membership of the BMA is restricted to doctors registered to practice in the UK, or libraries in our
Institutional membership scheme).
If you are a member you will pay a discounted price but you do need to have a BMA website username and password. If you need these,
go to the BMA website registration page. If you need a reminder,
go to the reminder page. Full details of member prices can be found in our
quick guide to costs.

Selecting the BMA as your document delivery supplier using My NCBI
Using this method means that you don't need to bookmark the unique BMA link used above. It is particularly useful when you want to use the other My NCBI services, such as saved searches and alerts.
- Sign in to My NCBI
- Select 'document delivery' on the sidebar menu
- Select 'BMA Library' from the list to specify that this is the destination of your requests when you use the 'send to order' option
- Perform your search and select your document delivery options as above, without needing to access the PubMed site via our unique BMA link.
Your document delivery preference is only effective when you are signed in to My NCBI.
PubMed's Outside Tool
This feature allows us to display our journal holdings in the results of your search. If we hold a journal in our collection, our BMA Library edocs icon

will be displayed next to the citation. Your Outside Tool preference is only effective when you are signed in to My NCBI.
To sign into Outside Tool
- Sign in to My NCBI and click Outside Tool on the My NCBI sidebar menu.
- Select BMA Library from the list
PubMed's interactive tutorial
Please see
