Handling the results: view, print, email and save
2004 version 2
24 May 2004
Viewing search results
Select in the Action box to view the citations you have specified in the Citations area. You will see them listed all on one page. Links to the Abstract or Complete Reference remain active. This has the same effect as clicking the display button alongside a search set in Search History.
Printing search results
Select in the Action box to view the citations you have specified in the Citations area. They are listed in one page, when they can be printed using the print function of the browser. The difference between Display and Print Preview is that by using the latter the hyperlinks are no longer active or coloured, which results in a clearer printout.
Emailing search results
The button enables you to send the references selected in the Citations area to your specified email address. Firstly the system will ask you to select the type of system you are using and the type of linefeed required. If you are using a PC (rather than a Mac) then the defaults apply. A form will then come up which asks for your email address, a subject line for your email, and any annotations. If you select Include Search History, the search history will be added to the annotations box and included in the email. The system will confirm that the email has been sent.
Saving search results
This option is similar to emailing but enables you to save results to disk. Selecting brings up a dialog box asking to specify a directory or folder and file name for your search results. The system defaults to a name of cites.txt, but it would be wise to select a name more descriptive of the search, eg wineoct04.txt. The file containing your search results may be opened in your normal word processor (eg Word, Word Perfect) from where you may edit/print it as you wish.
