International Committee


The BMA's International Committee includes representatives of all the main branches of practice, and discusses European and International issues of interest to the medical profession.

It has discussed issues such as the difficulties faced by refugee doctors wishing to resume their careers in the UK, the mutual recognition of European medical qualifications, the effects of trade agreements on health, public health in the European Union and the campaign to cancel the unpayable debt of the poorest countries in the world.

Dr Terry John is the new chairman of the International Committee
