Funding the work of the Special Rapporteur on the ‘right to health’
The BMA fully supported the appointment of Paul Hunt as the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health. The BMA’s International Department, drawing on its Strategic Grant Agreement with the Department for International Development (DfID) has provided funding for discrete projects undertaken by the Special Rapporteur.
BMA work with other international medical organisations
Through its international department, the BMA has close links with both the World Medical Association, and a variety of European medical organisations, including the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME), the European Union of General Practitioners (UEMO), the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) and the Permanent Working Group of European Junior Doctors. The BMA pursues its interest in health and human rights through all these fora.
