Medical academics conference 2005

The BMA’s conference for medical academic representatives will be held on Tuesday 15 March 2005, at the Royal Society, London SW1.

Sir Howard Newby, Chief Executive of Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) will be speaking on the RAE 2008, and Dr Liam O’Toole, Acting Chief Executive of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) will be speaking about the work of the UKCRC.

The Conference is the means by which medical academic staff are represented within the BMA; each school can send three staff representatives, and all medical academic staff employed by a university or research organisation are eligible to put themselves forward.

From amongst the conference representatives, the Medical Academic Staff Committee (MASC) is elected.

Further details will be sent out to all medical academic staff in late December, although please contact Mark Redhead (020 7383 6615; or email here to: mredhead@bma.org.uk) if you want to discuss how to contribute to the BMA’s work on behalf of medical academics in the meantime.
