Black history month

September 2008

The BMA equal opportunities committee and press office will be producing a resource to mark black history month, which runs throughout October 2008. The project will bring together a series of short articles from black and minority ethnic (BME) doctors about their experiences within the NHS. The project aims to celebrate the contributions made by BME doctors to the NHS and UK as a whole, and showcase their experiences both past and present.

The equal opportunities committee co-chairs would be grateful to hear from any members from BME backgrounds who would be willing to be involved in this project.

We would like to conduct a short interview with BME doctors, in order to write an article describing their experiences in the NHS, ideally accompanied by pictures from significant moments in their career.

If you would be interested in helping us with the project as described above, please contact the EOC secretariat (hforrester@bma.org.uk) so that we can arrange the interview.

Alternatively, if you know anyone who would be willing to help please send their email or telephone details to the EOC secretariat (hforrester@bma.org.uk) so that we may contact them with further information.
