Testing for blood borne viruses
February 2008
Guidance for medical staff from the BMA
In March 2007 the Department of Health (DH) published ‘Health clearance for tuberculosis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV: New healthcare workers’.
The guidance aims to clarify the position on testing for blood-borne viruses for NHS staff. This guidance for medical staff includes frequently asked questions, advice on whether to take the tests and what should happen when testing occurs.
